Abstract In this paper we present our approach for lexical data migration from textual e-dictionaries to lexical database. After a years of development, Serbian Morphological Dictionaries (SMD), developed as textual file, have become large and complex lexical resource. Application that is used for SMD development and management – LeXimir has become inappropriate for the future development of such lexical resource. That induce us to think about an on-line application for dictionary development and management that would be based on central lexical data repository (lexical database). We present the new lexical database model for the SMD based on lemon model and thesaurus of Data Categories. New database gave us various possibilities for improvement of existing resources and some of them are described in this paper. Apart from a mapping procedure of existing to new data model, we present sets of rules written for establishing relations between lexical entries. We also present a side effect – automatic generation of dictionary candidates consisting of lexical variants.
